Giriya Santrian Makes Sunday Mostly for Jazz on Sanur Beach in April and May 2017
With jazz, blues, pop straight-ahead and fusion styles played by some of the city's best musicians, Sunday Mostly Jazz by the Beach continues to entertain jazz and contemporary music enthusiasts. Griya Santrian is envisioning becoming one of the few spots in Bali that include every ethnic group, local performers, and jazz heads.
In cooperation with Sanggar Musik Indra Lesmana, Griya Santrian presents an array of outstanding jazz artists’ performances at the Griya Beach Club.
The exciting line-up of talent includes:
April 16 - Rieka Roeslan
Born in 1970, Rieka is a multi-talented musician known for her repertoire of contemporary pop, acid-jazz, and R&B. She is well known for her past role as lead singer of the band The Grooveand has now formed a stunning vocal group 5 Wanita - featuring Andien, Nina Tamam, Iga Mawarni, and Yuni Shara.
April 30 – Kayon Trio and Gustu Brahmanta Trio
April 30th is has been designated by UNESCO as “International Jazz Day.” To celebrate this special day, Jazz on the Beach will feature performances of the Kayon Trio featuring Indra Lesmana (piano), Pra B Dharma (bass), and Gilang Ramadhan (drums). Also appearing with by Bali’s very own ethno-jazz group - Gustu Brahmanta Trio. This historical appearance of two of Indonesia’s most outstanding trios will be live streamed to the world on a day dedicated to Jazz.
May 14 - Harvey Malaiholo
A legend in the Indonesian music industry, Harvey Malaiholo traces his musical roots back to his famous grandfather Bram Titaley and mother, Maudy Titaley. A fixture at concerts, festivals, TV appearances and top-selling recordings, Harvey is arguably Indonesia’s leading crooner. Accordingly, this talented artist says he draws his inspiration from the likes of Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson.
May 28 – Java Jazz with Indra Lesmana & Friends
Featuring Indra Lesmana, Dewa Budjana, Gilang Ramadhan, Donny Suhendra, and friends - Java Jazz is a fusion jazz group formed by Indra Lesmana in the 1990s. They have released 3 albums of Indra Lesmana's unparalleled jazz compositions. Don't miss this exciting and historical reunion in Bali in a single concert on the Mostly Jazz Stage.
